Sweater donated to the Vietnamese Heritage Museum
Donated to the Vietnamese Heritage Museum by Nguyễn Tiến Hóa.
This yellow wool sweater belonged to Nguyễn Thị Thủy Tiên, a three-year-old girl who perished along with her mother and older brother, Nguyễn Tuấn Anh, during a harrowing attempt to flee Vietnam by boat in 1981. The family was among 75 refugees aboard a boat that was attacked by pirates during their journey at sea. After surviving the ordeal, her father, Nguyễn Tiến Hóa, returned to the wrecked boat and recovered this sweater.
