Shirt donated to the Vietnamese Heritage Museum
Donated to the Vietnamese Heritage Museum by Nguyễn Tiến Hóa.
This button-up shirt belonged to Nguyễn Tuấn Anh, a five-year-old boy who died alongside his mother and younger sister, Nguyễn Thị Thủy Tiên, during a harrowing attempt to flee Vietnam by boat in 1981. The family was among 75 refugees aboard a boat that was attacked by pirates during their journey at sea. After surviving the ordeal, his father, Nguyễn Tiến Hóa, returned to the wrecked boat and recovered his son's shorts.
