Object type(s)
Description

This wallet was kept in the jacket pocket of Trần Thắng Tài at the time of his execution by firing squad in a Communist "re-education" camp, where he was imprisoned for leading a rebellion against the regime after the fall of Saigon in 1975. A bullet struck the wallet during the execution, leaving a hole. After her release from prison, his wife returned to the site and recovered the wallet along with other personal items, including a stone, two teeth, and the string used to bind him during the execution (the string was not preserved due to deterioration).
