The Teen Friends of Archaeology is a teen-led organization committed to bringing the joy, love, and learning of archaeology to our generation.

Letter from the Founder

Hello, my name is Sebastian Bader and I founded the TFOA. I have been the youngest member of the Friends of Archaeology at the Cotsen Institute at UCLA for a while. After years of greatly enjoying the lectures, digs, and experts from around the world that I have been exposed to it seemed like maybe there would be other young people out there who would really appreciate it as well.  When I was asked to create a group for people like me, who love archaeology, I was honored. I jumped at the opportunity. Archaeology is a subject that is not always in the spotlight. And yet it is one of the most important fields of study because it is the best tool to tell the story of  human existence. Archaeology uses science and careful research to bring the past into light to help inform us about the present and our future. We learn from the mistakes and triumphs of the past which makes Archaeology a vital field of study to the world.  Thus it is beyond important to introduce a new generation to it. This is why we have created the TFOA. With this organization we hope to gather together lovers of ancient civilizations and history to learn about past findings and maybe make a few discoveries of our own. I was able to learn about archaeology at a young age and I want people to have that same opportunity.
