Project

SEAMS delves into the bandage weaves

of votive animal mummies to understand whether

they could be markers of specific periods and places.

It goes beyond the visual inspection run so far

by systematically recording information on

every aspect of the wrapping manufacturing process,

including weaving, colouring and design,

with the aim to unravel diachronic and geographic

technological changes in the wrapping chaîne opératoire.
