Description

Part of a religious set for Catholic mass service that Fr. Joseph Nguyễn Đức Minh brought to the U.S. with him when he left to study abroad in 1964. After his graduation from St. John’s University in New York City, where he earned a Doctorate in Scientific Philosophy in 1968, he stayed in the U.S. because of the ongoing war in Vietnam. He kept this set until he donated it to the VHM in 2021.

Donor description

Brief biography of Monsignor Joseph Nguyen Duc Minh by VHM:

Monsignor Joseph Nguyen Duc Minh joined the Diocese Minor Seminary of Vinh in 1942. He was the rector of Vinh Ky Catholic High School, Doai, Vinh Province in 1950, and taught at the Diocese minor seminary of Vinh from 1951-1954.

From 1954 to 1956, he moved to Saigon to help refugees from the North. During that time, he became editor of Luyen Thep newspaper.

He was ordained on May 27, 1961 in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

He graduated with a doctorate in scientific philosophy from St. John’s University, New York in 1968, graduated with a doctorate in East Asian culture and history from the University of London, England in 1973.

He is currently retired and lives in Santa Ana, California.
