Description
This sand dollar was collected by Nguyễn Duy Hoàng upon reaching land after his perilous flight from Vietnam by boat. This sand dollar happened to be what he stepped on as he took his first step off the boat and on to land where he would be admitted into a refugee camp. The shell was donated by his older sister, Kathy Brown, who had continued to keep it in his memory.
