Educator, Anthropologist, Archaeologist
The first two podcast seasons are produced completely by the students of my course: Now as Then: A Cultural Examination of the Reception of “Ancient Egypt” as Myth Through Time’ which ran in the spring quarter of 2019 and 2018. Students collect source material, planned, and recorded their own podcasts as the final project for this course. Students selected a well-known topic from ancient Egypt and then examined its historical context as well as how its meaning changed through time. Students incorporated archival material from UCLA”s library special collection and interviews with UCLA graduate students into their scripts.
Season 3 was recorded by students in the course Egyptomania!, which I taught at Brown University in Fall 2023. Students followed similar guidelines, but relied on Brown resources to complete their assignments.
I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!
