Student Podcasts

Here you can check out seasons 1 and 2of the student-produced podcast: Now as Then: A Cultural Examination of the Reception of “Ancient Egypt” as Myth Through Time.’ This course ran in the spring quarter of 2019 and 2018. Students collected source material, planned, and recorded their own podcasts as the final project for this course. Students selected a well-known topic from ancient Egypt and then examined its historical context as well as how its meaning changed through time. Students incorporated archival material from UCLA”s library special collection and interviews with UCLA graduate students into their scripts. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

The first two seasons of this podcast series has now been expanded into a third season, wherein several groups of first year students from my seminar at Brown University Egyptomania! (Fall 2023) have added their thoughts to the subject. These students followed similar guidelines as those from the first two season, though they employed resources from their own university rather than UCLA’s.
