Description

A wooden sign gifted to Dương Chính while he was working in the Sanitation Division of Pulau Bidong Refugee Camp in Malaysia in 1982. Dương Chính arrived at Pulau Bidong in October 1981 after fleeing Vietnam by boat (B.P. 387) from Sóc Trăng. The sign was handcrafted and given to him as a keepsake during his time at the camp, and he later brought it with him when he resettled in the United States in July 1982. Now part of the Vietnamese Heritage Museum collection, this artifact was donated as a personal memento of Dương Chính’s time in the refugee camp.

Wooden plaque 

Staff at the Sanitation Division gave this to Mr. Dương Văn Chứng in 1982 when he was working as an assistant in the sanitation and epidemic prevention unit at Pulau Bidong.
