In-process article instructions

A number of articles are currently in various states of completion and should be the highest priority for section editors. Our team has compiled a list of the works in-process and reviewed the files to determine the status for each article. Section editors will be provided a list for their section which has been sorted according to status. Articles that are closer to publication are at the top and should be addressed first.

Procedure for in-process articles

  1. Review your spreadsheet and (re)familiarize yourself with the UEE eScholarship system by finding the records for each and reviewing the logs on their HISTORY page.

  2. Determine what the next step in the process is for each article using the Publication Process Overview.

    • This will include reading through the Email and Event Logs, any materials that have been uploaded to the system, and carefully reviewing the record for any clues as to what stalled the publication.

    • In some cases, it may be prudent to simply begin the publication process from the beginning and removing existing content.

  3. The standard email templates may not be sufficient in many cases, so separate templates have been crafted and should be personalized whenever possible:

    • Template email for a submission which was peer reviewed, revisions were requested but never received: Email

Notes

  • Conduct all correspondence through the UEE eScholarship system so the records for each article will be complete.

  • Be sure to cc uee@humnet.ucla.edu on all correspondence so that the UEE team can assist when needed and maintain an archive for the encyclopedia.

  • The UEE eScholarship system automatically tracks certain events, but it may be difficult to discern what occurred from the Event Log. As you work with the system and see how actions are recorded, this will make more sense.
