How to conduct peer review

The peer review process MUST be conducted within the UEE eScholarship system.

How do I invite a reviewer?

  1. Once a submission has been uploaded to the UEE eScholarship system, it can be assigned a reviewer.
  2. Log in to the UEE eScholarship system.
  3. Once you are logged in, you will be on the UEE eScholarship Home Page. Under UCLA Encyclopedia of Egyptology in the middle of the page, you see a link to “Manage Section”. Clicking on this link will open a list of articles “In Review” in your section.
  4. Select the article topic for which you would like to add a reviewer.
  5. On the REVIEW page, scroll to the Peer Review section and click on the link SELECT REVIEWER.
  6. You will be redirected to the UEE eScholarship Reviewers list. Select an appropriate reviewer and click on the Assign link to the right of their name.
  7. The reviewer will now be listed on the REVIEW page for the article. Click on the email icon in the REQUEST column below their name.
  8. This will open the UEE eScholarship email with a preset template.
    • Add uee@humnet.ucla.edu to the cc field.
    • Attach the Code of Conduct through the Attachment field and select Upload.
    • Edit the template if needed and click Send.

You will receive an email once the individual has choosen to accept or decline the invitation.

How do I remind a reviewer to respond to the request?

  1. Log in to the UEE eScholarship system.

  3. Select the article topic on which you would like to work.
  4. On the REVIEW page, scroll down to the Peer Review section.
  5. Click on the email icon under REQUEST next to the date of the first request.
    • Add uee@humnet.ucla.edu to the cc field.
    • Attach the Code of Conduct through the Attachment field and select Upload.
    • Edit email template as needed and click Send.

  4. Click on the Review tab and scroll down to the Peer Review section.
  5. Scroll down to the reviewer that has agreed to review
  6. Click on the link SEND REMINDER
