As an educator who works across the humanities and social sciences, I aim for students to leave the class with a better understanding of all that being human entails. When discussing the work of scholars who study the past from various disciplines, I emphasize the impact scholarly research has for communities in the present and the future. Finally, in the age of misinformation and mass media, I encourage my students to examine critically predominant narratives, interrogating the evidence provided, and questioning who the authors of said narratives are, for whom they are writing, and their intentions. Altogether, I strive for students to build upon their existing knowledge and acquire skills they can apply beyond the course, in their personal lives and professional careers. I undertake my teaching from a place of care, acknowledging that students’ lives extend beyond the class, and with the firm belief that this approach enhances students’ learning and passion for the subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have independently designed and taught as well as contributed to the delivery of courses in art history, archaeology, and museum studies at various levels within and outside the university. Additionally, I have developed several syllabi that I am looking forward to implementing, including “Walking Sacred Landscapes: The Art and Architecture of Andean Pilgrimages,” an upper-level undergraduate course that introduces students to the artistic, architectural, and landscape dimensions of pilgrimages in the Andes from ancient times through to the present by way of a selection of readings, films, group discussions, and digital projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
